AS/NZS 1906.4:2010 - High visibility materials for safety garments

This standard specifies the minimum colour and luminance requirements for hi vis fabrics, both fluorescent (F) or non-fluorescent (NF) background (compliant) materials, and hi vis reflective tape (retro-reflective material) that is used in the manufacture of safety workwear and safety clothing for high risk applications.


AS/NZS 4602:1:2011 – Garments for high risk applications

This standard specifies the design of safety workwear and safety clothing in day only, night only and day/night applications. This specifies the minimum area of high visibility materials (including hi-vis fabric and hi vis reflective tape), the design of the safety garment, and the colours for day and night garments.

Day only use: A Day only compliant garment must have a minimum 0.2m² of compliant hi-vis orange or yellow material on both the front and back, excluding sleeves, collars and plackets.

Day/Night use: A Day/Night compliant garment must have a minimum 0.2m² of compliant hi-vis orange or yellow material on both the front and back, excluding sleeves, collars and plackets (must be visible - fabric covered by hi vis reflective tape is excluded). High vis reflective tape on the garment must comply within the design specified in the standard, and must be a minimum 50mm wide.

Night use: A Night compliant garment must include High vis reflective tape on the front and the back of the garment as per the design specified in the standard, and must be a minimum 50mm wide.
